Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is core to our office fit-out designs. On each new fit-out scheme we apply a philosophy of creating Environments for Life that permeates into everything that we plan, design and manage.
We strive to design a workplace experience that people can enjoy, adopting a clear design vision for environmental stewardship coupled with pragmatic economic models. We understand that the success of a fit-out design is strongly influenced by the sustainability credentials of the base building.
To apply this design philosophy we have assembled a number of industry leading sustainability experts and research fellows who are an integral part of our wider multidiscipline design service. Our consultants have a reputation for providing concise pragmatic design advice on all our workplace projects coupled with clear and communication skills to aid in ease of design process.
We have also maintained a rigorous investment program into the most advanced design analysis software, allowing our consultants to investigate in detail the predicted performance of the workplace environment and provide the design team with well informed data to aid further optimisation of the design solution.
Armed with this technology our consultants follow an innovative design hierarchy to ensure the final workplace solution delivers a building with market leading energy, water and waste credentials through good design practices rather than by expensive ‘add-on’ technologies.
By understanding the client’s business needs, and the day-to-day operational requirements of its employees, we can assist the client in setting and refining the brief for the project to ensure the fit-out delivers the optimum level of efficiency and usability.
We are mindful that sustainability certification, such as LEED, BREEAM, Ska, Pearl and QSAS are becoming increasingly important for our workplace developers. Often perceived as a market differentiator and operating cost saver our consultants will ensure that appropriate sustainability frameworks are applied to our fit-out projects from concept stage through to completion in a collaborative design team manner rather than a tick box exercise.
We will target and optimise key design areas of thermal comfort performance, space conditioning efficiency, water consumption saving, material recycling, local low embodied energy construction materials and future change of use flexibility. This approach ensures that the final design is of the highest quality attracting the best return on investment and high rental yield.
We also feel it is important to practice what we preach and we have worked hard to embed sustainable development principles into our own daily work ethos. We continue to demonstrate our commitment within the business by upholding our ISO 14001 accreditation and we have an energy champion in each of our offices. Through our internal knowledge share programme and academies we share best practice sustainable design initiatives between design teams and specialist consultants.
